Beach Clean Up at Moeraki Boulders

The Geopark is excited to host another Beach Clean Up for World Ocean Day. World Ocean Day is an international day that takes place annually on 8 June. It raises the profile of the ocean, connects people worldwide, and inspires continuing action year-round to protect and restore our ocean. We are taking action this year by organising a beach clean up at Te Kaihīnaki / Moeraki Boulders. Think of the beach as a bridge between the land and the marine environment. It’s a critical biodiversity area. Cleaning our beaches is a step towards cleaning our oceans.

Bring the whole family and join us for a fun day out at one of our beautiful local beaches to collect litter and learn more about one of our Geosites. Please bring your own gardening gloves.

As 8 June falls on a Wednesday this year, we have decided to organise the event for the following Sunday to allow more people to be able to participate.
