2022 is the first time in our history of Aotearoa that Matariki is being recognised as a public holiday. There is so much depth and richness to our country and much more to learn other than simply the stars of Matariki. This celebration is a bite-sized offering for you to enjoy some Matariki inspired activities throughout the day.

Matariki inspired activities and events:

Learn Poi
Create a whetu (star) or putiputi (flower)
Waitaki Maori Cultural Group performances
Stone carving tutorials
Paint and stack memorial rocks
Hangi
Learn about Maramataka principles for gardening and well-being

Free entry, most activities free, koha for hangi
$40pp for stone carving tutorial (includes stone and lesson from Shaugn Briggs - www.artist.co.nz)
