Repair Café

repair.jpg

To coincide with Plastic Free July and conservation, there will be a Repair Cafe with experts from many fields available to help you with any fixable items you might have around your house.

It's always better to give our possessions a 2nd lease of life, even if it is to pass them along to someone else.

You’ll need to bring any items you think your repair job will need with you, or if you aren’t sure, you can bring your item in for diagnosis with our volunteer experts and they can help you discover what the repair pathway will be.

What

Description

Welding

Pop in and see Mark for any welding diagnosis or advice, or if he can do it on the day.

Sewing and mending

Got a favourite garment that needs a quick stitch or two? Drop by and see if our sewing and mending crew can give it a new lease of life.

General carpentry

Got a chair with a dodgy leg or a split timber? Call in and get some diagnostic advice or see if the repair can be done then and there.

Electrical repair

Bring in your electrical items for testing, diagnosing or a repair job on that spot if it can be done.

Laptop diagnosis

Our laptop expert will be on hand to help you diagnose what is wrong with your device. So if your laptop repair is stumping you he will be able to point you in the right direction for repair and recommend the parts you’ll need to keep your device digitally sound.

Moving parts specialist

Got a cuckoo clock that won’t woo you? We’ll have a dab hand on site who specialises in fixing mechanical treasures that have technical moving parts to their make-up.

Jill from Graves Saddlery

Need some heavy duty stitching or patching? Talk to Jill about those tough textile repair jobs to get a diagnosis or repair on the spot.

Hub and Sprocket bike repair

Is your bike feeling wheely sad? Come and see Steve and he’ll help you get back on the road in no time.

Darning and knitting

Are your socks a bit holey on the heel? Does your woolly jumper need some more threads woven in to be warmer? Pop in and see the darners for a yarn.
