Ōamaru, Weston and Kakanui have begun to experience population growth and change. The decisions we make now will shape the way we live, for decades. By 2051, the population in Ōamaru, Weston and Kakanui is expected to increase by approximately 4,950. That’s going to have an impact on where, and how we live.
The Oamaru, Weston and Kakanui Spatial Plan is a guiding document for growth and development within these areas over the next 30 years. The Plan was prepared collaboratively with Council, mana whenua, stakeholders and the community, and is working towards a shared vision and blueprint for development. The final Spatial Plan was adopted by Council on 10 May 2022.
