District Plan Review background

The Waitaki District Plan is the community’s rulebook, setting out how land use and development is managed within our district. It has a major role in shaping Waitaki's future and what you can do with your land.

The aim of the ‘first cut’ Draft District Plan was to ‘check in’ with the community to ensure that we are on the right track before we commenced the more formal steps with the notification of the Proposed District Plan. Engagement on the Draft District Plan ran for 3 months in 2022. Conversations with landowners and stakeholders are ongoing and will continue where required.

Council has collated, analysed and deliberated on the feedback received. This information was used to inform the Proposed District Plan which is now open for consultation.
