Contractor Approval
To work for us, we need to know you can work safely.
An important message for all contractors to work for Waitaki District Council – existing and new.
Waitaki District Council has committed to using a pre-qualification system called SiteWise that will assess contractor's processes under the Health & Safety at Work Act 2015. This will enable us to consider a contractor's health and safety commitment when we are awarding tenders, projects and contracts.
Before you can do work for Waitaki District Council, we require our contractors to hold and maintain
a SiteWise health and safety pre-qualification, or WDC-approved equivalent.
Like everyone else, Council must demonstrate that we have met our due diligence obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and have exercised our ‘primary duty of care’ to ensure the health and safety of all people visiting or working at Council workplaces, so far as is reasonably practicable.
The Worksafe definition of a workplace is ‘any place where a worker goes or is likely to be while at work, or where work is being carried out or is customarily carried out’. A PCBU has overlapping duties when undertaking work at a shared site.
Below is a guide for how you can register as a SiteWise contractor to demonstrate that you have good health and safety processes in place when you are working on our behalf.
