Electoral positions

Elections of local authority members are held once every three years nationwide. In Waitaki, elections are held for Council, Community Boards, District Health Boards (DHBs) and the Oamaru Licensing Trust.Elections will be held in October for the following:

Waitaki District Council

  • Election of mayor
  • Election of 10 councillors, the wards and number of councillors elected for each area as follows:
    • Ahuriri Ward - 1 member
    • Corriedale Ward - 2 members
    • Oamaru Ward - 6 members
    • Waihemo Ward - 1 member

  • Election of Community Boards:

    • five (5) members of the Ahuriri Community Board
    • five (5) members of the Waihemo Community Board

Oamaru Licensing Trust

Otago Regional Council (ORC)

Election of one (1) councillor to represent the Moeraki Constituency (there is a separate candidate handbook for the ORC election available from the ORC Electoral Officer). For more information please visit Otago Regional Council website.
