Board changes at Waitaki District Health Services Ltd

Waitaki District Council is sad to announce the departure of Melanie Tavendale from the Board of the Waitaki District Health Services Ltd (WDHSL). Ms Tavendale will step down from the Board on 31 December 2023 to focus on her recently purchased business, Hub and Sprocket Cycles.

Speaking about her departure, Mayor Gary Kircher said, “We are extremely grateful for Mel’s service to WDHSL and her role on the board in helping guide the organisation through challenging times. I would like to thank Mel for her service and in particular for stepping in to the role of Chair for the past six months.”

It can also announce the appointment of Keith Marshall to the board. Mr Marshall has been the hospital’s Chief Executive for the past two years, a role he will step down from on 31 December 2023.

Speaking about his appointment to the Board, Mayor Kircher said:

“We are pleased to appoint Keith to the Board and look forward to the considerable knowledge and experience he brings continuing to benefit health services for our community. We are indebted to Keith for the massive effort he has made in moving the health services forward as Chief Executive. His appointment to the Board gives us a good degree of continuity going forward for this vital service.”

Mr Marshall will join the board on 1 January 2024.
