Citizens Awards Recipients 2022

The annual Waitaki Citizens Awards are presented to celebrate and recognise those Waitakians who go above and beyond for their community.

Waitaki has some amazing people within our community who are often “unsung” as they give vast amounts of their time. The awards are a special celebration to recognise these amazing people.

This year the awards were hosted in the Empire Room at the Ōamaru Opera House with so many friends and family in attendance that more chairs needed to be pulled in.

A Piper led the Mayor Gary Kircher, Councillors, Community Board Chair and award recipients in to the room before the Mayor officially opened the awards.

This year we had 8 groups and 9 recipients of the awards:
