July 1 2024 will see Green By Nature Landscape and Horticultural Services become responsible for maintaining parks and reserves across the Waitaki District, including the 5-star Oamaru Public Gardens.

Council received four tenders from local and national companies before awarding the contract to Green By Nature. The contract will run for three years, with two further extension options of two years each.

Green by Nature NZ Director, Cameron Parr, says “We are humbled and honoured by the trust placed in us by Waitaki District Council. We can’t wait to roll up our sleeves and get to work alongside this wonderful community. We're proud to take on this responsibility and are committed to ensuring the green spaces of Waitaki thrive for all to enjoy”.”

Waitaki District Council Chief Executive, Alex Parmley, says: “We’re pleased that our parks and reserves will be cared for by the award-winning capabilities of Green By Nature. Waitaki takes a lot of pride in its natural beauty and our well-maintained Public Gardens.”

Council wishes to thank Downer (NZ) Ltd. for their role in ensuring our parks and reserves were maintained over the last eight years.
