A Structural Engineer has conducted bridge checks and has reported that the affected bridges are structurally sound. Abutments will need some rock armouring and safety features such as railings and bridge markings added so, please continue to drive with caution and follow the temporary traffic signage in place.
Our contractors will continue to work on repairs across the district with ongoing infrastructure repairs as part of our recovery efforts. There are no additional weight restrictions on temporary bridges or abutments.
Safety of our contractors and road users remains a priority and a level of temporary traffic management and speed restrictions will remain in place. Drive with extreme caution on all roads and allow extra time due to repair works, speed restrictions and expect delays. Please pay heed to any temporary directions and signage and do not remove or adjust any signage or cones.
We continue to monitor weather watches and warnings as they come through from the Metservice. Our region is wet and cold so be prepared for icy roads and drive to the conditions.
The boil water notices will remain in place for Otematata and Omarama and be reviewed on Monday.
Road conditions are always subject to change, keep an eye on the Waitaki District Council and NZTA websites for the latest roading conditions.
If there are any further reports to make, please contact the Waitaki District Council. Call us on 03 433 0300 or 0800 108 081 or service@waitaki.govt.nz. For any emergencies, please call 111.
