With several roads and bridges back in order we will continue to monitor conditions over the weekend. Our contractors will be back in action next week. From next week, ongoing infrastructure repairs will be part of our recovery efforts.

Local Roads:
Henburn Road has had one bridge repaired and Falston Road has been repaired for 4WD residents access only. Other roads in the area including Broken Hut Road, Ben Omar Road, Birchwood Road, Quailburn Road, and Awakino Skifield Road, are open with caution to 4WD vehicle access from this afternoon.

Temperatures are low so be prepared for icy roads and drive to the conditions. Safety of our contractors and road users remains a priority, please pay heed to any temporary directions and signage. Do not remove or adjust any signage or cones.

“We are happy with progress made this week with the flood damage repairs. It was good to see our contractors prioritise and reinstate many of the damaged areas.” Waitaki Mayor, Gary Kircher.

We have had a big week in the Waitaki District. In times of crisis, we can receive a shot of adrenaline but these levels can drop quickly. Here are some links if you need some extra support.
