Join the Friends of the Forrester Gallery from 3pm on Sunday 1 September for the final hour of the Uplifting Art silent auction. Light refreshments will be available.
The auction is on the top floor of the Forrester Gallery. The silent auction for 22 original artworks will close at 4pm. Over $6000 worth of bids have already been placed. The Friends are hoping to raise $10,000 from the auction. The artworks have all been donated by supporters of the Forrester Gallery and can be viewed in the Gallery and online at https://www.culturewaitaki.org.nz/WhatsOn/Uplifting-Art-Auction.
Chair of the Friends, Heather Machin says “We are delighted with the bidding so far. People have really enjoyed the diverse range of works on offer and the chance to support the Gallery as well as taking home a lovely piece of art.”
The purpose of the auction is for the Friends to raise funds for the extension of the Forrester Gallery building.
Director of the Forrester Gallery, Chloe Searle said “all funds raised will be going to the Friends of the Forrester Gallery. The Friends have taken a leading role in fundraising for the extension to the Forrester Gallery building. Initiatives like the auction and applications to funding bodies are ensuring the Gallery extension project can proceed on time.”
Building work on the extension is expected to start in early 2025, with the building completed in 2026.
