Waitaki received more wet and snowy weather overnight and the MetService is forecasting this to continue through until Wednesday morning.

We have received reports of snow in the Upper Waitaki and higher elevations throughout the district with flooding in coastal areas. Please avoid any unnecessary travel and drive with caution. Our contractors are monitoring known flooding sites and will close roads and add flooding signage when necessary.

Road conditions are always subject to change, keep an eye on the Waitaki District Council and NZTA websites for the latest roading conditions.

River levels are being monitored by the regional councils, who are updating us on potential flooding threats. Our emergency management team continues to monitor weather watches and warnings as they come through from the MetService as the event unfolds.

A conserve water notice has been put in place for the Windsor water supply.

If there are any further reports to make, please contact the Waitaki District Council. Call us on 03 433 0300 or 0800 108 081 or service@waitaki.govt.nz. For any emergencies, please call 111.
