Our events coordinator has done it again (been amazing, we mean)! These school holidays you'll be able to follow the Storybook Trail along the Oamaru Harbour Area and enjoy We’re going on a Moa Hunt by Patrick McDonald in the great outdoors! The trail starts at the Steampunk Playground and will end near the Oamaru Yacht Club. It will be set up for the duration of the school holidays.
The storybook trail promotes literacy skills and gives kids the health benefits of being outside and exploring with family and friends. It encourages physical activity while building young children’s interest in reading.
We’re going on a Moa Hunt was suggested by the Oamaru Library as a great option for the first Storybook Trail.
Mayor for Waitaki Gary Kircher said, "The Storybook Trail is a great addition to the attractions for our youngsters and their parents! It makes reading fun (in case it wasn't already!) - what better way to spend some time than getting around the harbour enjoying the scenery and a good book at the same time. The other cool thing about this project is that we have made it flexible so it will be rolled out for families in numerous other communities around our wonderful Waitaki."
